Interesting as a sparingly used styling oil. A historical review praises the hair feel but questions the added value for smoothing. Today’s formula is not entirely identical.

Our brief synthesis of selected reports, without measuring frequency. Sources and limitations appear below.
Our conclusion
No.7 is an option if you want styling oil alongside the manufacturer’s stated heat protection. For shine alone, the older review shows no clear advantage over cheaper oils. Today’s formula differs.
What the sources reveal
The older review values two tasks in one step rather than exceptional shine. We separate the reported hair feel from current manufacturer claims. Neither that experience nor the term Bonding proves a repair effect on your hair.
- May suit
- sparingly dosed styling through the lengths, a combined styling routine
- Less suited to
- the cheapest possible shine alone, guaranteed fragrance-free haircare

What to know before buying
Which No.7 is covered?
The 30 ml Bonding Oil, not No.3, No.6 or Shine Serum Oil Mist. OLAPLEX currently lists dimethicone and Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate among other ingredients. The older review also lists octinoxate; we do not transfer its UV discussion to today’s version.
Dosing and heat styling
OLAPLEX recommends two to three drops on damp or dry hair, before heat styling or as a finishing step. Heat protection is a manufacturer claim, not an Auvarra measurement. Follow the instructions on your current packaging.
What should you check before buying?
Compare size, full product name and ingredients. Fragrance ingredients are present in the current manufacturer list. Historical reports cannot reliably predict how the current version will feel on your hair.
